 FS Concepts Mountain Cycling Camp

 

FS Concepts would like to invite you to join us May 17th and 18th 2008 outside of Dahlonega, GA for a two day Cycling Camp.

 

This camp will feature climbing and descending instruction, nutrition lectures and samples, and fully supported training rides through the challenging mountain passes of Northeast Georgia.

 

This Road Cycling Camp comes with FS Concepts' 12 week Semi-Custom Training Program: Climbing: A 12 Week Approach To Improving Your Climbing.

Camp Structure and Highlights!

 

We encourage all cyclists who have a desire to improve their skills and fitness while having an enjoyable time doing so in the mountains of Northeast Georgia to attend this camp.

 

 Our focus is to provide the tools and environment for great learning and camaraderie.

 

 Additionally, participants should be able to complete rides of 50-65 miles with moderate to hard climbing and be able to safely ride in a group with other cyclists.

  • Lectures on climbing
  • Lectures on descending
  • Lectures on nutrition
  • Supported ride (you don't have to carry anything! Be a PRO for a day!!)
  • Fun
  • Friendly and knowledgeable staff
  • Scenic training/riding
  • Bike demos.  Expect to be able to take a Seigler or Blue bike out for a test run!
  • Motivation to do serious climbing
  • Nutrition for sports advice and product samples from Myogenesis
  • Shoot for PR up the climbs
  • Have fun
  • Learn descending
  • Improve climbing
  • Good training
  • Preview of the 3 and 6 gap ride
  • Weekend getaway
  • Airport Shuttle easily arranged

 

Housing Options

 

Participants are encouraged to stay wherever they are most comfortable.  Some may choose to stay at home and commute while others may decide to get away for the weekend and stay in the mountains.

Participants are responsibe for their own housing.

 Coffee and bagels will be provided.

 

10:00-12:00    Daily Agenda delivered, Q&A, Sports Nutrition Talk, Climbing and Descending skills lecture.

 

12:00 Break and get dressed for riding.

 

12:30-4:30 Ride Gaps.  50-ish miles

 

Course: At this point the course is not set in stone.  The goal will be to do around 50 miles with 2-3 focused climbs and descents.  Expect the route to be similar to the route published here: FS Concepts Mountain Camp Day 1 Route.

 

4:30-5:00 Debriefing of the day's ride.  Update on Day 2's ride.

 

5:00 Day 1 concludes.

 

Sunday's Agenda

 

Sunday May 18th, 2008

 

9:30-10:00   Meet and check in with Camp Staff at Hiker Hostel.

10:00-11:00    Daily Agenda delivered, Q&A

 

11:30  Ride;  65-70 miles.

 

Course: The route will feature several longer climbs as well as a few smaller ones for a challenging 70-ish mile course.

To attend this camp you must be prepared to have fun and spend some training time immersed is some of the most scenic mountains in the world.

Climbing: 12 Weeks To Better Climbing

Climbing is an area of cycling that inspires some and causes dread in others yet all want to improve in this area.  This plan is a 12 week approach focused on improving your climbing abilities.  Prior to starting this plan you should have completed several weeks of base/endurance training, have a heart rate monitor with zone recording capabilities and have 7-10 hours per week available to train.
